Backup no longer working

I have had no problem in running backup since the installation back in 2002.

 

Last week I tried to backup the DB and instead of the usual page with the backup details, it returns a blank page 'Cannot find server' and Page cannot be displayed.

 

The site and admin are working with no problem, I have not updated or changed the settings or files for ages.

 

I tried all the different options, Gzip, Zip, No Compression, Download and they all return the same blank page.

 

The DB is 1.8Mb uncompessed, is there a limit to the size I can backup through the admin panel?

 

Could there be something wrong with the DB that the script cannot process?

 

Using FTP to copy the DB at the moment, a bit of a drag, better than not backing up!
