o2intake Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Would just like some feedback on the website as it has been live for a couple months but we aren't getting much traffic or sales. www.yeppuh.com Extra things... For our product name I just used html to put the manufacturer name and product name together. Bolding the manufacturer name and going on another line for the product name. We did this because putting up the manufacturer name made the listing of products seem too tight packed. ie. http://www.yeppuh.com/skincare-basics-c-1_33.html But taking out the manufacturer would not let it show up on the product page either. ie. http://www.yeppuh.com/bflaniccibbrconfident-cream-p-76.html This makes it so that when you hover over the image the <b>...</b><br>... show up as well as in the url. So is there a way to make it like how the site is now without the html, like an addon. Also since the index page and the whats new page basically show the new items we thought about starting off the index page with a blog entry in the area where the products are instead. Would that be good? The company that designed the site said that adding a blog would cost extra because it would take 3-4 hours to install. I didn't think that adding it would take so much time and just thought of doing it myself somehow although I'm just a beginner. Thought about using b2 to do it.
Guest Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Just some initial impressions from my first glance at your site: Some people will knock you for not having "Powered by osCommerce" in your footer (or somewhere on your page). It's a requirement for receiving feedback on this forum. I don't pay any attention to osCommerce templates, because, as a designer, I don't really like them. So, if it's a template, at least it's pleasant to look at. I can't remember seeing anything like it recently. And, if it's not a template, then I really like the design aesthetics. Everything design-wise works for me. The menus are simple and intuitive, with some nice simple touches (such as the images in the left-hand menu). The colors are complimentary, and don't make me ill. A lot more shops could use a little lesson in not using bold, web-safe colors all of the time. I will say that the pea grean "U" and the text underneath it in the logo is a bit hard to read on the current background color. The pages tend to load a little slow, so you could look into speeding the site up a little. If you search the forums for "Site Speed Optimization", you should find some useful tips. Otherwise, it's very nice, design-wise. It's always nice to see a little subtlety thrown into the e-Commerce field. Some seem to think they need to go overboard to attract potential customers, when pulling back a little is usually more effective.
dmacus Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 pretty good design. the product urls are far too long, the 'add to cart' button is all the way at the bottom of the product page; your customers would have to look for it.
gretchenwf Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Note - As Mike posted above, you are required to have the "Powered by osCommerce" text on the site to receive feedback here. See the rules at the top of the page.
digilee Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Letter spacing on the buttons is ugly, 'sellers' is spelt wrong. I see a template and as mike said, I am also a designer and consider templates lazy. For that, and the missing 'Powered by', I cannot go any further. SolarFrenzy Solar powered gadgets at down to earth prices. CheekyNaughty Promoting British Design
