Need Help Making A Contrib Display Different

i have looked at the contrib of printable catalog. dont get me wrong its great but i want to display my product differently ! say 2 columns and 4 rows and it would show product image price and description, i have tryed doing it myself using a modified New Products snippet but couldnt do it
