Index page not working (page cannot be displayed)

Could someone please help me, i have installed contents of Catalog folder onto host directory (so that i do not have www.mydomain.co.uk/catalog and instead just have www.mydomain.co.uk), gone through the full install which has worked all fine and finished succesfully, however when you get the option to choose catalog or administation tool, when i choose catalog the page comes up wth 'Page can not be displayed' if i try to look at just www.mydomain.co.uk it states 'You are not authorized to view this page'

When i try to log into the admin page i get the Internal Server Error.

Does anyone know the reason for this and how i can resolve it as i am at a complete loss and anyones help would be appreciated.

Looks to me like a newly set up server that needs the following added to httpd.conf

DirectoryIndex index.htm index.html index.php
