Cannot edit the payment modules in admin panel

For some reason I cannot edit the paypal or paypal ipn contribution in the administration panel. I try to set it to true to enable and when I press the update button at the bottom it defaults back to the original settings. All the other areas like Configuration, Catalog, Customers ...etc. edit and work fine. I only have problems with the payment module.

Any help is appreciated

Have you tried uninstalling the module and then reinstalling?

Yes I've tried it several times and still have the same problem.

I also noticed in my browser status bar that once I click the update button it sends the information and shows it as being completed in the status bar but it does not reflect the changes in the administration panel.

Is there a way to reinstall just the payment module without having to do the whole catalog.

Let's be sure we're talking about the same thing. When I suggested you uninstall, then reinstall, the module, I meant through Admin. I hope you don't think I meant reinstall osCommerce, right?

Right, I know what you mean and yes I did try to uninstall it several times in the admin panel with no success

Then what I would do is uninstall the module, reupload (FTP) to overwrite the module's php files and try the install again, okay?
