Show all products option

Been searching for hours, dont think I found my answer but I may have. Hope someone can help.

 

I like to sort my products into categories, but they are all just greeting cards. So ideally I want my categories box to look like this:

 

Show all products

category 1

category 2

category 3

 

How do I make this happen?

I just made an additional category to contain everything from all the other categories. Then for each product I add to category 1/2/3, I copy it to the 'Show all' category. Probably not ideal, but it works for me.

so would that mean if you had lets say 100 gerkins listed in 'Show all' and had them copied into category 1

 

then that would actually mean there are 200 gerkins for sale?

 

Surely there has to be a better way to do this, hmmm, thinking cap back on I guess

No, as long as you choose 'link product' rather than 'duplicate product' when copying, you'd still only have 100 gerkins for sale, but each gerkin would be listed in both category 1 and 'show all'.
