bhamilton Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 This is a site I built for a friend's shoe store. It's almost ready but still needs a few tweaks like: SEO URLs Authorize.net - hopefully the e-commerce account will be setup this week. Right now the only payment method is PayPal. The iTunes like CoverFlow images on the home page will be eventually be linked. The store owner will be able to change those graphic advertisements out regularly and point them to specific products in the store. I thought about adding a blog beneath them so the owner can talk about coming items or other shoe collecting topics. Maybe a few more design changes/additions. What do you think? Advice? Suggestions? Visit the Shoelab! Thanks!
bhamilton Posted March 4, 2008 Author Posted March 4, 2008 Congratulations! Looks really good to me. Thanks! I, like everyone else in here, have poured a ton of hours into learning osCommerce and the more I understand what is going on with the code the more I like trying to modify it. It's amazing the amount of support and contributions that have been made by some pretty awesome people. Thanks to all who have contributed.
maxxxie Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Yowza, your page sizes are huge. Visit http://www.shoelabtx.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/22_32, this page is just over 3MB. You need to get a hold of a thumbnailing addon, like "On the fly thumbnails" or similar. This will reduce your page's size by tweaking the graphics, and will in turn make the pages quicker to load. I like the site's colour scheme. :) Max

I've also been working with the store owner to get his image sizes smaller and optimized for the web. Good suggestion...I'll work on this today. Thanks!
