Offering downloads and tangibles and want to allow auto download after payment.

Hi Everyone. This is my first post although I have been looming around for a short while. Quite a noob as I just setup my first store, which is a store for a band selling merch.

 

The products include a CD, a couple of t-shirts, and mp3 downloadable version of the cd. Current Method of payments are set up as PayPal (Standard) and Check or MO.

 

I have it setup, because of allowing check or money order, to not allow the download link to show up in the invoice until I mark the invoice otherwise (like delivered)... obviously because if I were to set it up to show up on "pending" (which I would like to do), than anyone who pays for the download version with a check or money order (would be crazy wouldn't it?) has the download like available to them immediately. So, in an effort to provide the download link asap to buyers, I have been searching and racking my brain to to find a way to achieve this. These are the methods that I am trying to figure out and could use someone's help. Your help is greatly appreciated.

 

Method 1. I see in the OSC manual that you can disable a payment method if the order total is above a certain amount. So then wouldn't it be possible to go in the opposite direction for it? The downloadable cd is the cheapest item in the store. I suppose all I would have to do is change a >= to a <= in the code. Then maybe find a way (just pulling this out of the top of my head as I go) to limit the number of purchases on this particular item to one at a time. Possible?

 

Method 2. Simply finding a way to disable payment methods for certain products.. ie disabling Check or MO if a download is being purchased or is also one of the items in the cart to be purchased. That way when PayPal returns the data as the order being paid for, the download link is automatically created (without admin intervention) and it is not possible to purchase a download or an order containing a download with a Check or MO. I would imagine this is the better way to go... Possible?

 

Anyway, I tried to search these things and when I started getting into answers about questions from 2006, that's when I stop the search... not sure if older answeres are relevant to using a new OSC... by the way, version 2.2 RC2a, no addons at the moment.

Haven't used it myself (yet), but downloads controller in the addons (quicker than typing contributions) area has been spoken of in favourable terms.

Where do you dl one of these download controllers at? I have had some problems this morning, maybe because I have been on here too long already. I am quite the novice and am also offering downloads as my product. I am not doing cash/mo as a payment option because of this. I am not having any luck getting this set up. I have added one product to buy and tried to test it, but cannot seem to find the download. I put it in the downloads folder of my store. Just so frustrated right now. I am also getting a fatal error of cannot redeclare soapdish..blah, blah, blah after I choose Buy Now. I have asked for help in another string on this. If you could offer any insight of how to fix this also, I would be soooooooooooo grateful.
