Please help with error viewing categories!

I've setup my oscommerce store with a skin I like and all is well. Unfortunately I can only view products directly and from within top level categories. This error happens when you try and goto the bottom possible category. For example if I want to view a power supply I can click on the components category and view the products, but if I want to go to the power supplies sub-category within the components category then i get this error

 

1054 - Unknown column 'p.products_id' in 'on clause'

Sorry Classic forum n00b mistake not to search the issue first

 

I've gotten as far as correcting code to play nice with mysql 5.

 

The problem I have now is instead of the error at the lowest sub category possible, it just displays my entire catalog. The Manufactuer drop down box is working okay, but the categories drop down box is fubar'd too

I fixed the problem on my own with some help from this most excellent fix

MySQL 5.0 introduces Server SQL modes as part of its SQL 2003 standards support, and uses a more stricter approach to executing SQL queries. This is performed by default with setting STRICT_TRANS_TABLES as a Server SQL mode.

Due to this new setting, MySQL fails on certain SQL queries and produces error messages on the screen.

Solution:
