Guest Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 I have not changed anything on the entire site recently but today I tried to add a new product and the image was the classic white box w/ a x so that is when I noticed when I click on catalog at the top of the admin page it says "Error: Catalog images directory is not writeable: and so I started flipping through the pages on the admin page and when I click on the tools page it says Error: Backup directory is not writeable. Does anyone know what could have caused this and how to fix it?

Guest Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 You should set the permissions back to 755 after you have finished uploading your image. Having your images folder permissions at 777 is the most common reason sites are hacked.
ozEworks Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 sometimes it is the web hosting company that causes it. the server resetting your insecure permissions. you will probably find it happens again.
