Guest Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 If so, approx. how many contributions / custom codings do you have? Did anything break? If you're not upgrading, why? For now, I'm not. i have more contributions / custom codes than i count (including a database admin-login.. and since the new versions have that, i'm skeptical to get rid of my system as i custom-coded a lot of things to allow my employees access to certain sections). I have, however, done the security patches from rc1. and, i really don't see the point of upgrading just yet. i've had zero problems with my site thus far and i simply just don't want to fix something that isn't broke. eventually, ms2 will be unsupported and i will have to upgrade as i am not a php know-it-all.. so when's the best time to do it? or should i ever? i am unconcerned with features, but more-so with security and stability.
cannuck1964 Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 I think you will see a slow migration to ver 3 by stable productive sites (if it ain't broken why fix it?). conversely, I think new sites being developed will start with the ver 3. What this will do is get a slower migration of contributions and modifications to ver 3, but they will come. I can see a time in the very distant future that ver 2 will no longer be used, but in reality, I doubt that will be any time soon.... Myself, I will move my site to ver 3 when I feel it has a good workout first in terms of testing and debugging (sort of like the waiting for SP1 to be released :) ) cheers, peter Peter McGrath ----------------------------- See my Profile (click here) for more information and to contact me for professional osCommerce support that includes SEO development, custom development and security implementation
Zews Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Well, there are no security issues and/or any major bug/exploit, so, why should i upgrade?, same as xp to vista. Time will decide.

I will upgrade to RC2a, but one patch at a time incase it causes problems. When V3 comes out, I will start from scratch.
♥toyicebear Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I will let my existing sites stay on 2.2 for a while even after 3.0 is released and i will probably not just upgrade them eighter. I will on the other hand make my own custom versions of 3.0 suited for the individual sites and when i have tested it and found it sutible for my and my clients needs then just migrate the relevant data from the old 2.2 shops over in the new 3.0 based shop.
