Pop-up windows for Information categories

As I work on the development and customization of OSC I am thinking that the categories in the information box particularly About Us, Terms, FAQ and the like could open in a separate pop-up window rather than going into a full screen. I have looked through the contributions and cannot seem to find anything relevant but that being said, I am also sure that someone has wanted AND achieved doing this.

 

What I am looking for is when a customer or visitor clicks on "About Us" it opens a small window much like a product enlargement window with nothing other than the text that we are presenting to them with only a "Close Window" link at the bottom. Now, in a perfect world I would also like to control the colour of the framed pop up border but beggars cannot be choosers.

 

If anyone has experience with such a thing I would appreciate hearing about it. Although the OSC is forcing me to become more acquainted with PHP for which I am sure one day I will be happy, I would prefer to not to try to muddle through what to my mind is going to be a wee bit complex.
