configure.php

I know this has come up in several topics previously but i am still at a complete loss, i am on a linux server not Windows so i can not do the changes via ftp etc i have to use SSH, however i have never used this and need to change the file permissions for the configure.php.

 

I can log in and get as fas as my includes folder but then how do i do the changes?

 

PLEASE PLEASE HELP MEEEEEE.........I am starting to crack up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :'( :blink: :'(

you need to run this command on the shell prompt in linux

 

chmod 444 configure.php

Thanks very much for your quick response Mike but unfortunately i do not know what Shell prompt means., i have my domain registered with fasthosts and they have told me to use Putty for the SSH however like i said before i can get as far as my includes folder but do not know how to set the permissions after that.

Ring up fast hosts 24/7 help desk and ask them if they have any web based site admin tools such as cpanel.

 

These tools allow you to change permissions using a GUI from your web browser, much easier than learning command line instructions.
