pop-up problems

Just had customer who could not display some pictures. I am using pop-up window to display larger picture of the product and she has pop-ups disabled.

May of my customers are not very computer literate and, I suspect, many have same problem and did not tell me.

 

Is there a way of bypassing browser pop-up blockers?

 

I am thinking in few directions here:

1. Show larger picture in same window with some Javascript, as user moves mouse over the picture.

This method may be annoying to some people as image will change size in and out as mouse is moved to/from picture.

 

2. Detect pop-up blocker and bring a message asking user to enable pop-ups. (any idea how to detect pop-up blockers?)

 

3. Is there some other clever way to bypass pop-up blockers?
