Last stable version and when will 2.2 be stable

Hi,

 

I've been contracted to develop an ecommerce system for a website that gets around 40,000 orders a year. The site will be developed over the next 4-6 weeks, and the existing site uses an older version [still finding out which version] of OsCommerce.

 

I'm looking for a few things to get started and wonder if anyone can help...

 

1. The existing system has been heavily customised yet I'm assuming that the newer versions of OsCommerce have many of those customisations already built into the system. Where can I find the develoment history to figure out what has been added/modified with each version?

 

2. I cannot seem to find the current stable download, only V2.2 RC2a. Any ideas where this might be?

 

3. Any ideas when RC2a might become stable? I'd rather use the latest version, but we cannot afford any glitches with the new system -- which as I've mentioned will be live in around 4-6 weeks.

Its my understanding that RC2a was built on 2.2. A lot of changes are apparent but the framework is the same. So - RC2a is the current stable release of 2.2..
