No RAVE Server connection established

Lately, I have been seening this error come up in UPS shipping

 

No RAVE Server connection established

 

Has anyone experienced this before. It seems to be happening frequently....my store has been running flawlessly for over a year. Is this error to to the UPS server being unable to handle the holiday season?

 

Is anyone having this problem and what is your solution...

I am getting this today as well. Anyone know what the issue is? Must be a UPS server issue.

The real problem too me isnt the connection....I mean that is an issue...but worse is that without this connection...no shipping prices are added to the order.

 

Ultimately, its not a big deal, I can add shipping later and tell the customer.

 

I received a letter from them, and apparently the server is going down on 1/1/03

 

They do not say how long...so, I am assumeing they will be done for a while.

I got the No RAVE Server connection established message alot when I first started testing the UPS module so naturally I thought that it was buggy (I wasn't sure who was to blame), so I started to search. I'm glad others saw the same thing. So for you I have some questions:

 

2 Things:

1. What would you say is the uptime for the UPS(70, 80, 99%)? I can't get it to repeat the error today (and I've tried).

 

2. Is there any way to NOT allow the customer to continue? Or are you telling them that if the server is down, shipping will be added later to their order? What is their reaction?
