Thanks in advance. And the problem is? (Works perfectly) Lets say the price you set for a product is 40 (yes 40 somethings) Let's say you set euros as default and Euros are 1.00 (equal to the price as set) so Euros now show the product as 40 Euros .. great! Dollars if you set as 2xEuros will show as 80 dollars. Alexandero Posted February 23, 2008 Author Posted February 23, 2008 Dollars if you set as 2xEuros will show as 80 dollars And the problem is? (Works perfectly) As you can see, the price was 54$ with USD as default. But, with Euro as default the price becomes 80.02$ Normally, it should remain 54$ in both cases, either with euro or usd as default.

Alexandero Posted February 24, 2008 Author Posted February 24, 2008 You should reenter your prices in euros. Oh noooooooo!!!! This is the last thing I was thinking about. I cannot re-enter the price in euro for more than 500 items is there another suggestion better than this?!! Thanks

Alexandero Posted February 24, 2008 Author Posted February 24, 2008 Set the default currency as usd again. I am afraid not but I want it to be in EURO now. That's why I wrote this topic. Any other sugestions please?! I don't believe that Oscommerce does't handle this.
Guest Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 I am afraid not but I want it to be in EURO now. That's why I wrote this topic. Any other sugestions please?! I don't believe that Oscommerce does't handle this. It does handle switching currencies by the customer. Prices are not stored as x amount certain currency. You have two choices, as stated previously. You may want to look at the easy populate contribution to change your prices.
Alexandero Posted February 24, 2008 Author Posted February 24, 2008 If this is the only solution to this problem, then I will use Price Updater as it is more easy to install and can + or - any value. easily But I hope osc team will consider this, and find some good code to handle switching currencies in admin side. Thanks to everyone here.

♥geoffreywalton Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 The other way is to write a bit of sql to multiply ( or divide ) the price by x to give the required price. w3.schools.com is a good starting place. Alexandero Posted February 24, 2008 Author Posted February 24, 2008 Thank you Geoffrey, but i really don't have the skill to do that ... :'(
Alexandero Posted February 24, 2008 Author Posted February 24, 2008 This problem is a one off, most people set the default currency then add their products. But, you know that sometimes we need to change the default currency, in my case, because I want to change the payment gateway who accepts only a certain currency , so i have to force the clients to pay in that currency. So, I hope Osc will consider this. Best regards,

I cannot re-enter the price in euro for more than 500 items is there another suggestion better than this?!! Thanks Let tghe default currency be USD. but on application_top.php set after You find few lines of currency code that has default currency,HTTP_GET+VARS etc $_SESSION['currency']=EURO. also set $currency = $_SESSION['currency']; Am assuming You just have one currency. The other way out is. Apply some easy populate logic. Download/export file using easy populate. open ina spread sheet. Where ever theer is price apply formula. upload this modified file. Now set default currency as EURO. Hope this helps. Satish Mantri Ask/Skype for Free osCommerce value addon/SEO suggestion tips for your site. Check My About US For who am I and what My company does.
♥geoffreywalton Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 1) Go to your ISPs admin area for your site. 2) Click on the icon for Mysql, then find the link for phpmyadmin, it might be hidden away at the bottom but not on all admin sites. If you can’t find this, please consult your ISP's help desk. 3) In some cases, you may have to choose which database your OSC tables are located on. If this is the case, please choose using the dropdown box. 4) Click on "SQL" on the navigation bar. 5) Enter/paste your SQL in the textbox provided or, if you have a file containing the sql commands, click on Import and follow the on screen prompts. 6) For both methods click "Go".. The sql is update products set products_price = products_price * 2 or update products set products_price = products_price / 2 Where 2 is the conversion rate, so don't forget to change it. Thanks in advance. I have the same problem. I try to describe more precisely to everyone. I'm from Hungary. We have to upload our products in US dollar - no problem, we set USD as default currency. BUT the currency rate between USD and HUF very often changes (more times a week!), so we must update the rates almost every day. I need a resolution for this problem, but i think now i will change the code of update currency button and add new field to products table (currency_id) so it will recalculate and update product prices in the product table. (Moreover we have products in EURO and HUF too. I think the default currency handling in OSC is a bottleneck .)

Your problem is not the same as mine. You have to use Cron job to let the rates update authomatically everyday or every week as you wish. There are some contributions there that can help..
