Well. Having read some comments on some other websites, I have a couple of comments to add. I wasn't going to install SSL as it cost an extra £50 a year ($100) with my hosting company, but I read on someone's post that you can get it from $20. Does anyone know where I can get it from for that price?

I also read comments about streamlining the checkout process. I need to have a good browse of the new contribs as I haven't been here for a while - I did my last store a couple of years ago.

Can anyone give me a heads up as to a good one to use?

I love oscommerce and OS software! I'm not a programmer, I'm only a learning boy and a translator :) I love full contribution packages!

DISGUSTING :P

Are you going to be selling pussypops? Looks like it based on one of the images. I have a domain name that you might be interested in - PM me.

Paypal won't allow the sale of this stuff - guaranteed - when they catch up with you, they'll dump you pronto. I use to own an "adult" site ;) You'll need to find a payment processor that will, and there aren't that many - try Verotel.

Anyway - site is OK, a bit boring, a bit sterile. Needs a bit more sexiness I'd say.

Yes, Pay Pal conduct random audits of sites that use their services, and as soon as they find an adult site they shut your account down. And there's always the prospect that some dogooder will report your site to Pay Pal.

Basically if the payment provider is USA based then they are scared stiff of anything "adult" and won't have anything to do with providing services.

Oh, I didn't know that!

Technically, I'm only selling 2nd hand clothing - but I KWYM.

Maybe I shall see how long it takes before they cotton on.

Burt - what would you recommend in the way of sexiness? I've tried to keep the design simple and clean - maybe too simple?

I went back and checked out a few other websites that do similar things to see what methods of payment they use. There was one other who also used Paypal, so hopefully we'll be OK.

Tonya,

The general layout of the site is decent, and the graphics seem to be acceptable at this point - regarding quality.

One thing I did notice, the "bio" page seems to be gone?? I really don't remember what you called it, but I would think that you will need to keep that "personal" touch on the site if you want to attract the clientele I think you are after - then again, what do I know... ;(

Also, I would try to shrink the header just a tad - Though the images are enticing, they take up probably more real-estate than they need to in order to get the attention grabbing effect that I think you are after.

Anyway, You also MUST get an SSL if you will do any of your own payment processing. Paypal seems to be inconsistent with its adult oriented product exceptions, however here is their latest policy;

Physical GoodsPayPal allows U.S. only transactions for certain sexually oriented physical goods, such as videos, DVDs, magazines, or other products physically delivered to the customer. PayPal does not permit transactions for sexually oriented physical goods by users outside the U.S. To determine which types of physical goods to permit, PayPal considers these factors:

Regulations or restrictions on the purchase or sale of the product in the applicable jurisdiction

Classification of the product by a recognized ratings board

Description or depiction of sexual conduct in a patently offensive way

Dominant theme of the material or website

Literary, artistic, political, or scientific value

Impact on the safety and protection of PayPal's customers

Potential medicinal or educational uses

Digital GoodsPayPal prohibits all account holders from buying or selling sexually oriented digital goods, including downloadable pictures or videos, subscriptions to websites, or other content delivered through a digital medium.

Other Prohibited Goods and Services – PayPal prohibits all account holders from buying or selling any sexually oriented goods or services involving minors or made to appear to involve minors, and any services for which the purpose is to facilitate meetings for sexually oriented activities. PayPal does not include sexual preferences or viewpoints as a factor to determine what this policy prohibits.

So, it would seem that you are ok if you are in the U.S., however, if you are outside the U.S., the policy seems to prohibit your products.

Personally, I wouldn't wait for PayPal to nix your account as they may also hold onto any funds that you have in the account or that have not been transferred out of your account (somewhere else in their policies regarding involuntary closing of accounts).

Otherwise, site doesn't look too bad.

Good Luck!

Hi Ben

Thanks very much for the feedback.

Not sure which bio page you meant - there are two 'personal' pages, the 'Meet our Girls' one and my blog, both of which are linked to from the top buttons above the header image.

There was originally a link to the girls page in the text blurb on the index.php but I thought it was unnecessary as there was also the link at the top, and probably would have gone unnoticed. I wanted to keep the text blurb to the minimum.

I'll be using Paypal's UK site - I'll have to check out their policies and see if they differ from the US one - certainly one of the competitor's websites uses PayPal UK. I might have to just empty the account weekly just in case. I used the same business paypal account I've been using for years - just linked another email to it. I certainly don't want to lose it. Don't suppose I can get away with the 'second hand clothing' excuse . . .

But I don't know what kind of revenue this website will generate. I used to use WorldPay with one of my others but the annual overheads bit into my profits, so I switched to Paypal.

I am definitely getting an SSL - have already got one in fact, but I am waiting on my hosting company to generate the CSR or whatever it is called.

... the 'Meet our Girls' one and my blog, ...

Found it - For some reason I missed it and couldn't find it again. I think it was because I scrolled down to see the products and didn't scroll back up far enough - the header thing is what caused me to scroll and my screen is a 17" set at 1280x1024, so if I have to scroll on an index or home page, then there's lots of info, lots of wasted space, overly large graphics, or something else going on that probably needs to be looked at again.

Good Luck!

Well, after a bit of research, it seems there is some debate over exactly what PayPal will and will not allow. But I found this really interesting thread, which seems to say that Paypal are OK with adult stuff provided it's not hardcore porn or illegal.

But Nochex is a possible and there are a few others listed on there in case I have any trouble with PayPal.
