mlevenhagen Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Hi all, I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place.. I have installed my first osCommerce.. Got it about the way I want with the help of outsourcing some things.. I've searched around and it looks like the only way to edit text on the home page and elsewhere is to work right in the code. I don't mind personally as I'm fairly comfortable with coding. I just cut the code out, paste it into me editor, edit it and plug it back into admin.. seems to work lovely. But I am curious if with the way osComm is set up that we might see a addon or something that could make various areas of the site easier to edit down the road? Is there one now? Like the description boxes for the products themselves. These seem pretty straight forward. Create your code in your editor and plug in. Although a WYSIWYG editor would be easier.. Or even something as simple as Wordpress has to give you some formatting basics (i.e., bolding, center, hyperlinks etc).. but I can deal with it. ;) Can something like this be created for areas like the home page? From what I'm seeing, from an editing perspective, this is not going to be very easy for total newbies that aren't comfortable with coding etc.. unless they outsource the work or climb the coding learning curve... Just some thoughts.. I'm mostly curious if this is something that might be seen down the road with this project.. I've worked with a wide range of scripts over the years in the form of blogs, cms, membership solutions etc.. other then the editing, osComm seems like an awesome solution.. I'd recommend it now with the added note that outsourcing or being very comfortable with coding is required. Thanks! -Matt
