Well no go for us 'lesser' Europeans then..

Well, I can't see it making much of an impact to be honest - most people will still be using google, and by the time the froggle brand is well known maybe we Euros will be able to add in our products.

Let the US store owners bug test it ;)

I disagree. If it gets out of Beta, I think it would at least be a serious challenge to Yahoo! Shopping and MSN eShops. When you think "Search" you think Google. I think it would be natural enough for Google's huge search engine user base to begin using Froogle when they start advertising it on google.com.

Burt,

How easy is it to create the feed? I'm waiting to be approved right now.

Thanks,

David

Hey. I don't know, the WizardsandWars site was the first US based site that I could think of, so thats what I searched for. Chris (Admin/Owner of the Wizards site) posts on these boards, so if he notices this thread he might let you know if he had to do anything special to get listed on froogle...

I would have thought though that the froogle listings are creamed from the main google database - so are your products listed in the main google database ?

Not quite yet. You submit a csv feed to them.

"As its software crawls the web, Froogle automatically identifies products for sale and the picture, price, and category associated with each product. Froogle may occasionally make incorrect assumptions about content, resulting in a mismatch between products and images. While we continuously fine tune this process, the best way to ensure accuracy is to provide us with a data feed that you know to contain the most up-to-date and accurate information about your products."

So it does it automatically - which means that the Spider needs to find your products. If it doesn't/can't or gives incorrect information then is the time to give them a CSV...

So best option is to make sure that Googlebot can do it's stuff on your pages without any problems - have you been following the numerous Google threads on these forums ? There are some issues with SID, but these are now resolved pretty much, and it is now a case of rationalising the SID killer code to something which will work in all given situations...

Anyway, HTH

Well, I guess there is pleanty of interest in Froogle, because I have gotten over a dozen PMs and emails asking me what I did to get listed.

I figured I would respond here, to keep from being redundant.

My Froogle listings came from the regular googlebot crawl.

I have, however, received approval from Froogle to be included in their inde (Uh, it's a little late guys), as well as my username and password for my Froogle account. I expect to receive a sample datafeed within the week.

As soon as I receive it, I will make it public to this forum.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit.

If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help.

Here is the Froogle Feed Documentation.

If anyone can figure out how to dump a froogle friendly file out I'd be a happy man.

Hi all, EasyPopulate Tim here.

I'm actually working on making EP support Froogle format at this very moment.

Ted Joffs is sponsoring the development (everyone say "Thanks Ted!") , and it will be released as part of the EasyPopulate contrib, probably in about 2 days.

I'll keep the list posted and let everyone know when it's ready.

Tim
