DaveSlats Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 Dear all, I am installing OSC for the first time. When I get to the second install page (after the page where I enter the server name, MySQL userneme etc) about a fifth of a screen appears showing. "New Installation. Datebase Import" And then it freezes. Any ideas? I would be most grateful. Dave. Dublin, Ireland
Rik_rca Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 I had the same issue. Problem resolved by switching ftp client. I was using coffeecup free ftp and switched to filezilla, both free clients. Don't ask me why, getting blank screens with one upload. When I cleared it all down and uploaded with filezilla it all installed first time. possibly someone with more experience can shed some light on it. Regards Richard
DaveSlats Posted February 18, 2008 Author Posted February 18, 2008 Richard, Thanks for that, but I am actually just installing it on my localhost - i.e unzipping directly from the dowloaded OSC file to the hard drive. Its a complete mystery to me. I actually did install OSC on another machine about a year ago and had no problems at all. Do you reckon it could be some Apache/PHP/MySQL configuration? Again, thanks for your reply and at least I know it is not a unique and is a soluble problem. If you come with any other suggestions drop me a line. Regards, Dave Slater
♥Vger Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Install gets stuck on page 2 --------------------------- The most common cause for installation getting stuck in step 2 is that most recent PHP installations have register_long_arrays = OFF This needs to be turned to ON in the php.ini file (you will need to stop and restart your server to get this change to take effect.) It could also be that Register Globals is set to 'off' in php.ini with no error reporting taking place. Vger
DaveSlats Posted February 23, 2008 Author Posted February 23, 2008 Dear Vger, No, the PHP.ini file seems fine. I have tried everything, but cannot move forward with the installation. Thanks for your input, Dave S.
