Merlisk Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I have customers that tell me they proceed the entire way though the checkout process using the PayPal module. However, even though PayPal shows the payment, their order gets deleted (or never stored?) AutoReturn is set in the PayPal account (hopefully, properly). In the General Support forum, a few others reported having this issue. Does anyone know of a reason, things to check, or a solution? Thanks for your help. Quote

Merlisk Posted February 16, 2008 Author Posted February 16, 2008 The stock paypal module does not process orders correctly. Install Paypal IPN Really? Ack! I've been trying to use PayPal IPN (and posting to that thread), but my problem is that it's not 'instant'. I'm seeing from 3 minutes to 30 minutes return from PayPal IPN with a Verified order. I need it to be instant because what I do once I get a verified order. Has that been your experience? Is it instant for you? If not, are there any other truly instant verifications? The default PayPal code is instant (when it works...) Quote

No, none are instant, it takes time for the email to process. The default PayPal code is instant (when it works...) - I would like to know which is the default PayPal code that is instant. Perhaps you can tell me which one it is. Quote

Merlisk Posted February 16, 2008 Author Posted February 16, 2008 No, none are instant, it takes time for the email to process. The default PayPal code is instant (when it works...) - I would like to know which is the default PayPal code that is instant. Perhaps you can tell me which one it is. With the default PayPal module in oscommerce-2.2ms2, when the customer comes back from paying properly, I see an instant status change to Verified. That's enough for me to do what I need to do. If they go off and don't pay, then the status isn't changed to Verified (or whatever I put in the Order Status table.) This is enough 'instant' for me. Well...when it works and doesn't lose the order. With PayPal IPN, though, the POST back to me is taking 3-30 minutes. That's not 'instant' enough for me to do what I need to do unless I cron a job to periodically check for the updated status. What I'm wondering is if this IPN time lag is standard or if, perhaps, I have something misconfigured. Quote
