Guest Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 DIY website launching seems to involve an awful lot of fumbling around looking for answers, and whilst doing this I found a site that checks banned sites on google. Not really thinking anything of it, I tried my own site and was informed that it was more than likely banned because it hadn't got me indexed. So I did what it said - site:mywebsiteaddress and, sure enough, it returned 'your search did not match any documents' Can google ban a site when it hasn't broken any rules (to my knowledge)? Is there any definitive way of knowing, and if it's true - are you stuffed for life ?

Can't seem to DMOZ it though?

DMOZ can take some time. You could try dynamic sitemap contribution that submitts your pages to google.

Satish Thanks Satish, I can see a ggoglebot's been in there but for some reason my domain kicks in without the www as well - it's like I've got 2 sites. The one without www will work with google when I enter site:mydomain.com but not site:www.mydomain.com So, yes the googlebot's crawled it but has only indexed the one. Am I only half stuffed ?

Well, Chek Your configure.php it should have www.site.com in it and not site.com. Its better to have www.site.com indexed then just site.com. You should install google site map and submit it once. Also I suggest adding SEO ultimate or SEO-G. For seo if You follow proper practice and devote time. You will be in top 10 for your like key phrases.
