Guest Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Well, if we can't get feedback from the Live Shops, perhaps you kind people could give some insight as to why the site isn't attracting customers a year since it went live - I mean just from what it looks and feels like. Ta. Here it is
♥geoffreywalton Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I thought it look quite nice, I'll get back on my old hobby hose about not being able to see what you are selling on your home page on a portable. futuremillions Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 In addition to all those above, I don't see that the site has a SSL certificate. Remove the bottom bar with the amount of requests. If at first you don't succeed, restore your backup files!
radders Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 My overall impression is of a site run by a sole trader (the graphics, the use of Nochex, lack of an address), but the telephone number adds confidence. Seems to me like a fairly random collection of items you sell. What is your theme and your target market? Where do you advertise? I see from your conditions that you charge VAT but I couldn't find your VAT registration number and company name and address or if not a Limited company then trader's details. hth David
♥Vger Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 It looks very amateurish, and has no SSL, so I wouldn't buy from your site. Apparently Google feels the same, as you've got a zero Google page ranking - which is not good for a site which has been up for over a year. Your product descriptions are virtually non-existent. Vger
Guest Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 It looks very amateurish, and has no SSL, so I wouldn't buy from your site. Thanks Vger. I'd appreciate a little more if you wouldn't mind? Amatuerish - in structure? visually? content? is it too 'stock' still? Are buyers generally savvy enough to diferentiate between an expensive and an 'off the peg' SSL? Apparently Google feels the same, as you've got a zero Google page ranking - which is not good for a site which has been up for over a year. I've installed google sitemap, header tags controller and I keep link building. What is it (in your opinion) Google is able to 'see' and dislike. Big question I know, but you seem to be able to talent spot on the fly. Your product descriptions are virtually non-existent. Bit of a tricky one this, as they're actually shorter and I have to add copy to pad them out. Sometimes the suppliers give hardly any info. Do you think it's worth investing the time to research each product more thoroughly? Would appreciate any further feedback. Thanks again, bertie. Vger
Guest Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 I've installed SSL and continue to increase link popularity (2000+), but yesterday I went on a site which offers a google prediction tool. However, it couldn't predict for me as it said I had 0 backlinks and the tool needed a minimum of 100 to perform the prediction. Is anybody able to diferentiate between a backlink and an incoming link. Surely, links from directories count as 'quality' backlinks? Anybody?
dynamoeffects Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 My first impressions are not good either. It seems like you're trying to sell one of everything under the sun, which rarely does well in the realm of e-commerce. Clicking on "Dot Man," the selection goes from a single beach towel to shavers to watches within 5 rows and finishes with a "Tube map". It reminds of me of the tables you find in department stores near Christmas with random products meant to be gift ideas. It's so random I think most people would simply to go Amazon where there's a far better selection. You should really focus on one theme or product line. Please use the forums for support! I am happy to help you here, but I am unable to offer free technical support over instant messenger or e-mail.
