stevespida Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Hi After a few months of tearing my hair out and an imense amount of viewing of this forum, finally up and running. www.kitchenrack.co.uk Would like to hear anybodies views on the site (particularly if they want to buy something!!!) Thanks to all in the forum who have been helpful to me during this time. Cheers Look forward to your thoughts.
joannemojo Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 The first thing you need to do is replace the stock images with your own as they don't match the site at all. It's easy to do, just save new ones as the same filenames and upload them. They'll overwrite the stock ones automatically. Secondly your store logo doesn't look right. It's got a grey background but is just in the left hand corner so the rest of the header has a white background. You either need to have a white background on your logo or grey background on your header. Other than that redo your logo so it's wider and fits better. I like your colour scheme. It's clean and fresh. I know it's just a stock OSC with different colours and some would bitch about that but to me it doesn't matter. The stock OSC layout is very easy to navigate and works extremely well. Your images are nice aswell. Overall a good start. I personally wouldn't buy from your store. Not because it looks bad etc but because you don't appear to have a SSL certificate. I went to the account page and it's still http:// instead of https:// so for me thats a big no no. I won't give my personal details to a site that's not protected.
burt Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 What area of the site do you want comments on? As it's almost completely standard, out of the box, osCommerce it's difficult to find anything wrong with it, or anything good with it.

You said exactly the same in my thread: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=292665 How about making some comments that are actually useful?
futuremillions Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Some people you just have to ignore. I agree with the secure certificate. I don't see any information about your company there. I would just add some information there. The welcome page needs more info. It looks a bit flimsy. Other than that, it's a great start! digilee Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 I agree with Burt. Your colours are kind of ok, but other than that, there's nothing really to comment on. You're lacking in completing the site, SSL, company details etc. SolarFrenzy Solar powered gadgets at down to earth prices. CheekyNaughty Promoting British Design
stevespida Posted February 19, 2008 Author Posted February 19, 2008 Thanks for you comments much appreciated. The SSL one has been causing ongoing debate for me here!! I had a mix of views. As all my payments are through Paypal they are secure, but I'm beginning to side with you guys that i should protect the whole site. Will add more company info too Cheers steve
