oscjww103 Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 hi all, please take a look at my site http://www.gardeningessentials.co.uk/ any suggestions much appreciated
Draeisme Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 I believe it has to say powered by osCommerce in the footer or it's not allowed to be posted here.
oscjww103 Posted February 12, 2008 Author Posted February 12, 2008 I believe it has to say powered by osCommerce in the footer or it's not allowed to be posted here. thanks for the heads-up - i've reinstated the footer. i've modelled my store a bit on osmax who don't seem to use the oscommerce line - why is it ok for them to do that then? any other comments welcome...
alfredoscorpion Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 I like what you did with products and CSS at the home page. Background image little too agrasive but the idea of the grass is very good. The elarge images are too big, you better fix it.
Draeisme Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 There is nothing wrong with removing it as long as you change the style enough. But on the forums you can really only post links that show osCommerce running carts with footer included. At the top of this page it has the text about it. But on to your site :) It looks good. I would recommend a thumbnailer. This just reduces the size of your thumbnail pictures so that everything loads faster. Here is an example http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/2226. I would also do something about the OsCid in the address bar. I heard it is not good for that to stay there since, spiders can save that, then save a login to someone's account in a search engine result. Force Cookie use might be good to get rid of OsID, i just put that on. Im a new osCommerce user myself, so i would recommended researching. Overall it looks good.
oscjww103 Posted February 16, 2008 Author Posted February 16, 2008 thanks for the feedback people, keep it coming...
stonjie Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 thanks for the feedback people, keep it coming... I like the: RRP Our Price You save is it possible to change the color of one of them? Just to break it up a bit. maybe make the RRP black, or something. You still have the oscommerce standard buttons and gifs around the place. I don't think they quite fit your theme. You don't have any contact details that I could see. You have two manufacturers phone numbers, but I didn't see yours. Apart from that it looks good (and green, very green ) P.S. if i was to buy a lawnmower, it would cost 200 pound for freight. I don't think I'll do that just yet.

Obewanz Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Hmm, the grass idea is pretty good, but I'm not sure the implementation is there... I would try to tone that down a bit and make the blades of grass smaller so that it looks more like a scotts lawn bag or whatever. Otherwise I would say this is a decent implementation of a stock osCommerce store - nothing to rave about, but nothing really wrong with it either. Just my .02 worth. Guest Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 I like it - nice and green. Did you use a contrib to get the big categories box? If so, which one - I like it.
