Guest Posted December 11, 2002 Posted December 11, 2002 Just successfully(?) installed the EXCHANGE PROJECT application and it's pretty dang awesome. I have a few questions though, for those willing to help out: ADMIN SECURITY I see that securing the admin page is dependent on me. (And it's never good to depend on me.) Anyone have any reliable ways to password protect this page? Also, in upcoming editions, are they planning to make build-in admin protections? They could have us set-up an uber-user when we're configuring all this stuff, who could in turn set up others who need access. But anyway, what's a good way to protect it now? TURN OFF FEATURES Is there a way to turn off some of the features? For instance, I'm pretty sure the gal I'm doing this for (for free, mind you - I'm such a sucker!) doesn't have products she's gonna need reviews for. If she's not interested in that, is there some way to disable them without too much difficulty? If I tamper too much with the code, I have a feeling the whole thing won't work anymore. DEFAULT.PHP CUSTOMIZING Where do I go to customize the main page so it doesn't say "this is a demo for such and such freeware"? I went to default.php and took a look around, but I didn't see any text to alter. EDITING CONFIGURATION When editing the configuration, it always displays the "key", which can apparently be altered as well. Also, there's a blank "function" spot. I'm not exactly sure what either of these are, but I have a feeling I shouldn't be tampering with them. That's true, right? I guess that's good enough for now. Thanks to any who can provide some help! (Or even if you can't, thanks for trying!) Mike....

However, in order from top to bottom. 1) do a google search for .htaccess 2) Simply comment out the reviews box in catalogincludescolumn_right.php 3) catalogincludeslanguagesenglishdefault.php 4) Not sure what you mean here... That's documentation for 2.2, isn't it? I'm using 2.1. Should I be using 2.2? I was under the impression that wasn't quite ready to go yet... Mike....
Denver Dave Posted December 11, 2002 Posted December 11, 2002 I went through this same discussion a few months ago. My conclusion, for me was to move to 2.2 in order to get better support.
