CherryPieDesigns Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 www.cherry-pie.com.au is my new shop for starters and the current shop is www.cherry-pie.com.au/store as you can see I am trying to make the move from zen cart with a great lack of features to oscommerce which is packed full of all these goodies I adore. At the moment I have the attribute already put in the proper places without the editing via manual. I already tried it with the manual install but I ended up getting lost along the way and could not find any lines in the end that were listed to change or some of them were partially already there and I didn't know what to do. I am now noticing that in the zip file I downloaded that there were 2 sets of instructions and I am starting to think I either should have done them both or just the second one or neither. Now I know I am confusing everyone who has managed to read thus far but I am confused as well... The 2 notepad instructions are option_type_feature-v2.0.2_manual_installation and option_type_feature-v2.0.2_manual_installation(-new-) do I only use the new one? Another thing I got confused with was in the updates and fixes txt file.... ########################################### ###----UPDATES and FIXES by faaliyet----### ########################################### --Update logs from v2.01 to v2.02-- 1)Run this query into your database or use insert_text_option_value.sql file. INSERT INTO products_options_values (products_options_values_id, language_id, products_options_values_name) VALUES (0, 1, 'TEXT'); INSERT INTO products_options_values (products_options_values_id, language_id, products_options_values_name) VALUES (0, 2, 'TEXT'); INSERT INTO products_options_values (products_options_values_id, language_id, products_options_values_name) VALUES (0, 3, 'TEXT'); I couldn't find out how to run a query in a database or find a database for that matter. If I haven't confused you too much by my question could someone please help me and if it was too confusing please let me know so I may try to clarify further. Thank you so much in advance, I really look forward to making the switch to oscommerce asap!
♥geoffreywalton Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Read the installation instructions and follow the one that applies to you. 1) Go to you ISPs admin area for your site. 2) Click on the icon for Mysql, then find the link for phpmyadmin, it might be hidden away at the bottom but not on all admin sites. If you can’t find this, please consult your host. 3) In some cases, you may have to choose which database your OSC tables are located on. If this is the case, please choose using the dropdown box. 4) Click on "SQL" on the navigation bar. 5) Enter/paste your SQL in the textbox provided or, if you have a file containing the sql commands, click on Import and follow the on screen prompts. 6) For both methods click "Go".. 7) If all goes well, your SQL query will run successfully For another explanation see:- http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?sho...dmin+mysql+code Or for a contribution to allow you to run SQL Script from Admin http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,4567 Cheers! CherryPieDesigns Posted February 9, 2008 Author Posted February 9, 2008 Thank you so much, I will give your instructions a go tomorrow and let you know how I went :)
CherryPieDesigns Posted February 11, 2008 Author Posted February 11, 2008 Did as explained, pages are now blank can you tell me where I went wrong?
CherryPieDesigns Posted February 11, 2008 Author Posted February 11, 2008 OK to elaborate, I just logged into admin and it all seems to work except for the product attributes page and when you go direct to my site it comes up blank. Is it likely to be the product_attributes.php or do I have bigger problems? I really don't want to have to do a fresh install of oscommerce again for the 4th time.

CherryPieDesigns Posted February 11, 2008 Author Posted February 11, 2008 :'( I feel like screaming right now. I uninstalled oscommerce and decided to try a fresh install and put each of the files that came with the option type feature in the catalog folder into the appropriate folders using ftp. I then went into php admin and uploaded those 2 sql files and got a successful result but now I cannot get into admin and the website is fine. Do I need to edit the files I ftp'ed over. Please someone help before I break my computer. Thanks a million in advance
