How to install oscommerce OFFLINE?!

Hi everyone, I have installed a template into my server before, but the uplaoding time was too long, especially that i added many contributions to it... so this time i prefer to install it offline and do my tests offline first but I don't know how to do..

I heared that easyphp can do it but i don't know how it works.. could anyone please explain in detail how to do that job?

I'd install xampp on my pc and check I could see the pages that come with it to prove it was working.

 

Loads of documentation is included on how to set up and run xampp, this includes php and mysql.

 

Then install osc, works a treat

First of all thank you for your suggestion. I have installed Xampp, but i don't know anything about how to install oscommerce using it. Could you please tell me?

Download the osc package and unzip it place it and the sub-directory in your xampp htdoc directory

 

For example I created a directory called dev.

 

C:\Program Files\xampp\htdocs\dev\catalog

 

Remember xampp can run using php4 or 5

I afraid it didn't work. I don't know anything about it. I installed oscommerce sucessfully many times on live servers, but i don't know how to install it on my computer for tests..

 

Could anyone please help with a detailed procedure?!

I have copied the os files to c:\xmapp\htdocs\dev\catalog , but i don't know how and where I can see online this os store.

I assume you have installed xamp and can see the xampp demo and configuration pages.

 

Now just follow the instructions in the knowledge base

Once you have run the osc installation it should be at

 

http://localhost/dev/catalog/

 

And all should be OK

I am afraid XMAPP caused lot of trouble to my computer. I got many errors when i restart my PC.

 

I hope someone else will help me. I believe that most of you (as coders, and webmasters) test oscommerce and contributions on your computers first before uploading it to your hosted servers.

 

So, please someone help me. I am just a newbie trying to learn.

Try easy PHP, read in their forums maybe you can find something useful.. if you figure it out let me know..
