fatal error editing index.php content

I followed the directions and edited the index.php file to add copy on the main page

 

I uploaded the content change and got an error reading the site "White screen of death" I didn't copy that error, as I figured I could just restore the original page from the original install copy on my home computer.

 

So I did that, and now have a

Fatal error: Call to a member function add_current_page() on a non-object in /home/georgev9/public_html/goodcoffeedirect/includes/application_top.php on line 312

on another "White screen of death"

 

The admin area is still displaying properly.

 

This is probably not a rare issue, but I don't see it in a 15-minute search of the forum. Google-searching brought up a couple of similar issues, however none were close enough to make their fixes halpful

Well, now it is working again. The cache must have refreshed on the site. I know how to refresh the page at my browser, and had already refreshed there several times
