Widen the Categories Column

I'm stumped.

 

I've tried a number of things, to widen the Categories column, but with no luck.

 

If you take a look a what I'm trying to do, http://clearwaterclearair.com/img.jpg, You can see that the content below the Categories, is the correct width, but not the Categories themselves. Ive tried editing the index.php, column, the categories.php code, and the CSS.

 

I'm at a loss, if anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be GREATLY appreciated.
