3Dawn Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 I have narrowed my issues to getting a download error but I can't seem to resolve it. Any suggestions are desperately needed! :) My webserver is UNIX, I have turned on the download redirect. When buyers download a file it is named the expected name. However, it is only 1kb where it should be about 13Mb. If I change the filename to being an htm extension I get the following message inside the downloaded file: <br /> <b>Warning</b>: symlink(): SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid is 10053 is not allowed to access /home/httpd/vhosts/HIDDEN.com/httpdocs/pub/.zbpbllotpggwyott owned by uid 48 in <b>/home/httpd/vhosts/HIDDEN.com/httpdocs/download.php</b> on line <b>156</b><br /> <br /> <b>Warning</b>: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/httpd/vhosts/solidworkstemplates.com/httpdocs/download.php:156) in <b>/home/httpd/vhosts/solidworkstemplates.com/httpdocs/includes/functions/general.php</b> on line <b>29</b><br /> My webhosting company has turned off SAFE MODE and I still get the error. Any suggestions? Comments? :'(

jasonabc Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 I had this exact same error message recently. Turned out to be a path problem (I had set it slightly incorrectly) Jason My Contributions: Paypal Payflow PRO | Rollover Category Images | Authorize.net Invoice Number Fix
3Dawn Posted February 8, 2008 Author Posted February 8, 2008 Have you tried to google? oscommerce "SAFE MODE Restriction in effect" Yup, the only answer I was able to find was that my webhosting provider needed to make a a change to the configuration on their end. I have had them do that and it didn't make a difference. Thanks for responding.
3Dawn Posted February 8, 2008 Author Posted February 8, 2008 I had this exact same error message recently. Turned out to be a path problem (I had set it slightly incorrectly) Hi Jason, Hmm, that certainly would explain why the result didn't change when my web hosting provider changed the php settings. I can see that it creates a temporary sub-folder in the "pub" directory and this is what isn't being allowed. I've set the pub folder permissions to be read/write by anyone. Does a sub-folder inherit the permissions of its parent folder? If not, any ideas how to do this? (I'll look into this further) Thanks again for the help!
