SEO: Content Before Navigation

How much is it important to have content in the code before navigation?

 

Have you found differences by changing the order of elements? Ex: Content,ColumnLeft,Column Right,Header.

search engines give more value to keywords that had occured at the start.

 

So if naviagtion like Home,contact comes before Your key words and key phrases You will find spiders giving lesser values,.

Do you know of any guides/contribs that help with this? I remember seeing something about this in another topic, but it wasn't the main point of the topic and I have no idea what the subject was. Any pointers about this would be greatly appreciated.

I have seen this to put the main body before the columns but I have not seen a trick that will do that with the header.
