I've tried copying and pasting the code into Index.php and stylesheet but i cant seem to get it working Any help much appreciated by a noob :)

Just go to Google.com and sign on...free...then go to Ad Sense....still free (unless you add adSense Words.)..so by-pass), however, just continue on to widgets. They (Google will pay You for all clicks) They also give you full information on how to set up--very easy.
