No Display by using strip_tags($new_products['products_description'])

In my special.php, the following piece code is very strange:

<tr><td height="46">'.strip_tags($new_products['products_description']).'...</td></tr>

 

The 'products_description' can not be displayed, there is only a '...' shown there.

 

Could you please kindly give me any hints to solve this problem? thank you very much.
