How do I Separate Items Listed?

When I go to one of my Categories, all of my products are in a list form, but they blend together where white is the main background.

 

What I want to do is either shade every other section to create a separate column for each product OR literally put a box around each item.

 

Would that be easy to do, and what would I have to edit to do it?

 

OR if there may be a better solution, please let me know.
