MGilhouse Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Hello everyone and thanks in advance for your assistance. I've spent the morning searching for a contribution that would solve a little problem I have, perhaps one of you know what I need: Here's my scenario: Product 1 we offer in red blue green. In red we sell small, medium, large In blue we sell medium large and XL In green we just sell in small. Product 2 we offer in red blue green but In red we sell medium, large, XL In blue we just sell in XL In green we sell small, medium, large and XL. I need my shoppers to be able to select Product 1 in red and then choose from small, medium and large. But when the choose blue, choose from medium, large and XL. And (forgive me for being obvious) green choose small. And a different set of choices for Product 2. I've pondered just setting up my attributes as Red - Small, Red - Medium, Red - Large and so on, but the effect of this is a huge (ugly) single drop down list because these are not the exact attributes of my application. It seems to me like a fairly common need, but for the life of me I cannot seem to find the solution in the contributions. Perhaps I'm just not searching the right terms. Help?
glamourfish Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 This might not be the best fix to your problem, but maybe it'll work for you until you get it sorted - I've had to do the same. Instead of adding product 1 with a dropdown for the colours, make each colour a new product. That way you can add the sizes as the dropdowns? EG: Originally: Product 1 we offer in red blue green. In red we sell small, medium, large In blue we sell medium large and XL In green we just sell in small. Now: Product 1: red we sell small, medium, large Product 2: blue we sell medium large and XL Product 3: green we just sell in smal Just a suggestion....not ideal though. if at first you do succeed...try not to look surprised!
Mav666 Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 You could JavaScript it - drop options and add them depending on the selection. It is pain, but possible ... Even at a Mensa convention someone is the dumbest person in the room.
MGilhouse Posted February 4, 2008 Author Posted February 4, 2008 Thanks for the ideas! I'll take them into consideration. Oh and a little confirmation that I'm not losing it (there's no contribution) is always nice.
