SSL Problem

Guest

Recommended Posts

Hi

I am having problems adding SSL to a new site.

Any HTTPS pages, you get the "Do you want to display non-secure items?" message. If you say NO, none of the images appear, if you click yes the page appears but with no padlock shown.

I have the following in the configure.php

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.mysite.com');
define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://www.mysite.com');
define('ENABLE_SSL', true);

However if i add the following in the configure.php it all works fine but all site is secure:

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'https://www.mysite.com'); // ssl enable
define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://www.mysite.com');
define('ENABLE_SSL', true);

If anyone has any ideas, post away!

I'm getting a similar error on one of my sites , re:SSL, not had it with any other SSL osCommerce shops i've built, IE6 comes up with a non-secure items pop-up on every page with SSL encryption. Although if you click yes / on everything displays fine.... Any ideas?

Clicked the link in the previous post but couldn't find anything wrong with the configure.php file, it's rather odd!

Usually images or flash that are off site, or the page thinks it is off site. URLs often help to track down the culprits.

Hmm, the only thing i can think of is perhaps something linked to in a stylesheet, thanks for the advice, i gotta keep on learning :)

Just checked the stylesheet, fixed it, I was referring to background url's with absolute filenames using http:// (for the sake of 404 pages) but , let's face it, having a working site is much more important than a lovingly represented 404 page haha!

Thanks again Leslie :)

I have read that but still not sorted it, it must be something to do with the images as if i click no to display unsecure items all the images are not shown, if there were just a couple of images which were linked then it would show all the rest other than the unsecure ones.

So my thoughts are the links to the images, any ideas?

Lee - If you want help beyond this point you will have to provide a url so that we can look at it. It would also be useful to know who your hosting company are - because some hosting companies require fixes when it comes to using ssl on their servers.

Already tried removing those but nothing.

If i change the following it works fine, so there is no off site link.

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'https://www.originalsfootwear.com');
define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://www.originalsfootwear.com');
define('ENABLE_SSL', true);

So why does it work with https: and not http: ?

I could leave it like this but the whole site is secure and not just the check out

Your header has some NON SSL reference.

<base href="http://www.originalsfootwear.com/">

should be <base href="https://www.originalsfootwear.com/"> else all images are coming from a non ssl site as far as browser looks at.

1and1 fix

includes/application_top.php:

change:

$request_type = (getenv('HTTPS') == 'on') ? 'SSL' : 'NONSSL';

to

$request_type = (getenv('HTTPS') == '1') ? 'SSL' : 'NONSSL';
