Guest
You need to CHMOD english.php to 755 or 777.Nic If the file was ftped to the pc, this problem would not occur when editing. I assume the edits are being done via the admin filemanager.

Guest
Yes I am using admin file manager cheers. This is risky because it may or may not work. Also, where is your backup file when you use this method. All edits should be done on your pc in a text editor. You should have backup files for when things go wrong. You should use an ftp program to upload and download your files (I use filezilla). Filezilla cn also be used to change the file permissions. If that does not work, use the filemanager in your webhosts control panel to change permissions.
germ
I wouldn't use the osC File Mangler Manager. If you have an unpatched version, it will screw up PHP files in a heartbeat. Notice the double slash's in the path: Error: I can not write to this file. Please set the right user permissions on: /usr/local/pem/vhosts/108250/webspace/webapps/osCommerce/httpdocs//catalog//includes/languages/english/index.php I'd say your configure file needs an adjustment. If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.
