URGENT: NEED HELP WITH EASYPOPULATE 2.1

Hello,

I am need to fix my database, and quickly. I have office for Mac OS X, as well as Filemaker pro 6. I have been trying all night to get the database working, but it just does not want to import. I have been created a tab-delimited file with Filemaker Pro, and trying to import that, but it just doesn't work. I can import to excel and then export again, but I get the same results in each output file.

My question is this, and I believe i have figured out why it will not import: Does EasyPopulate 2.1 need quotation marks on each field? I am wondering if the PC version of Office puts quotes on each item, then tabs. The mac only has tabs... would this cause problems?

For example, my tab-del file looks like this...

no_photo_lg.gif	DC15	15? 4 Ohm Woofer	"550 Watts RMS
1000 Watts max power
15? Subwoofer
Kevler, Carbon & Woven wood fiber cone
Hi-Temperatrue Kapton polyamide voice coil
Die-Cast alloy basket
Dual spider construction & Multi
Layer surround
550 Watts RMS/1000 watts max power"	230.99	1	9/29/02	1	Lanzar	Test EOREOR

there are tabs between the fields, but no quotations around them.... is there anyway to turn this feature on in Office X... or Filemaker pro? When i download the file of my example database, i get this...

Hi Casey, Tim Wasson here.

Can you send me the file you're trying to import and I can take a look at it to see why it's not importing right.

I maintain EP so I like to keep on top of the problems people are having...

Hello,

I have figured out that you can use Filemaker Pro to export the file to a tab-delimited file, but you need to use BBEdit or some other program to convert the line breaks. If you are using BBEdit, choose "Unix" Line breaks. DOS may work as well...

Thanks,

Casey
