zones shipping $ (mis)calculation

I'm using only the Zones shipping option. I've set up the calculation using the osCommerce admin panel (modules->shipping->zone rates) and made sure that all items have an assigned weight. And handling fee is set to 0.

The problem I'm having is that the resulting shipping $ for any order seems to be off. It looks like the $ is being taken for each item in the order, then adding those amounts up for a total, rather than giving the shipping $ for the total weight of the order.

What I mean is, say I have an order for 5 items, each weighing 1 pound, for a total shipment weight of 5 pounds. What I should get for a shipping charge is the $ amount I assigned to the weight of 5 pounds (say $6). What I'm getting instead is the shipping charge for a 1 pound shipment (say $3) x 5 (for a total of $15). So the resulting charge is much higher than it should be.

Can anyone offer suggestions as to how I might fix this?

Thanks a lot.

No, I haven't heard anything, nor have I been able to figure it out on my own yet. I'll let you know if I get it sorted out (though no ideas in mind right now).

Maybe you could do the same...

I just got my store up this last weekend, and I'm having a table problem. Seems that the problem is in the zones.php file. But I can't find where it parces the table?

...,8:8.00,10:9.00,12:10.00,....

Seems that if I add something weight 10. It adds $10.00 and not $9.00,..

If I drop the weight down to 9 pounds it adds the correct amount of $9.00.

I'll go and test mulitiple items now and see if I have the same problem as you with the adding weight as you go instead at check out for total order.

Thanks,
