How did someone make a purchase without paying through 2checkout, or another payment processor for that matter?

If every member of this board donated $1 to the dev team, that would be over $11,000.00. Don't you think this cart is worth at least a $1????

OK - Now I was kind enough to post my URL to show people the 2checkout.com set up. But going in there a running a purchase for an item and not Paying is WRONG!  Who is 68.114.59.240 ??????????? ADMIN's OF OSC PLEASE HELP!

What did you expect really ? Kinda naive to post an URL and then not expect someone to use it...

I expected the people to use it for the purpose of posting it! Is that asking to much. For adults to act like adults?

I would expect the same thing, but I still don't understand how someone made a purchase without paying. Can you clarify for anyone else that may be using the same payment processors as you?

And to answer how do you go though a check out and not pay... They just closed the browser window?!? That is my guess. And they used PayPal not 2Checkout.com! So they were not in there testing the 2checkout. I would be a little less upset if they were out there doing it to 2checkout because that is what this chat is about. But who knows... Some people just cann't respect others work and are jelous. Ohh well. I will just band the IP.

No true damage done I will just delete everything. It is just the fact of what they did.. Maybe they are sitting at the computer reading me 8itch about it right now.

It's why I rarely post URLs here these days, I was getting anywhere up to 50 false orders per week from people "testing" my shop. Since I removed the link from my profile - 2 false orders in the last 4 weeks.

Ho hum.

That is sad that we have to do that. This is the first time it has happened to me. I have had people come and shop. < Which is good >

Does anyone know how to block this? It only take like 4 clicks to delete the account so these people have to recreate an account.

1.) Takes me 4-8 clicks to stop them

2.) Takes 25+ keystrokes to set up an account, and to be a jerk.. Seems like I have the uper hand!

Any other ideas on what others are doing to stop this? Is anyone else having this problem. I never have over the past 4 months and I have had like 4 people create fake accounts. Maybe I should start a new thread on this issue.

I asked the question "who creates fake accounts" a while back. That was the title of the thread. It ended up just being a fact of life for shop owners. Like you said, it takes 4-8 clicks to delete it, so not a huge headache. Here it is in all it's glory. :)

I'm still not clear on how they misused the website.

You told them they could take a look at the 2checkout mod. In order to do that, they had to create an account. I'm sure you didn't expect them to provide their real information.

So then they put things in their cart, and proceeded to checkout. There is no other way to see the payment module without doing that, so I don't see that harm there. Finally, they see the payment module, and their testing is complete, they close out of the browser. You didn't say they had to purchase in order to view your payment module.

I don't understand what they did that you consider misuse.

(It wasn't me BTW, but it easily could have been)

OK, Misuse for me #1, is when the thread is about the 2checkout.com merchant account and they don't even use 2checkout.com paypal was the module. and to test does one need to but over $100 in the cart of a 20 item? I really would not care if they would have used the 2checkout.com cause I can get the hint. However PayPal? Why 5-6 items purchased? Whoever it was at lease wanted to check shipping cause they put a valid city, state, zip in... After seeing what happened and looking back it very well could be someone testing it or a possible customer coming in and checking shipping.. Never know. But just messed up that the same day I post my URL on a website (within min's matter of fact) I got fake accounts. I know I have read posts b4 too and checked out peoples website and created accounts. also one of the accounts was somewhat valid cause they put in a phone number and e-mail. well enough talking...
