hello, in osCommerce ,does the shipping cost can use in the different goods.

 

for example

 

A: the price is 5$+shipping cost 1$

 

B : the price is 6$+shipping cost 2$

 

but now ,in the osCommerce ,the shipping cost is the same cost! can we use the different shipping cost in different products

In osCommerce, you may use flat rate (same shipping cost for every order), per item rate (if a customer orders one item he pays $1; if he orders 2 items, he pays $2,etc.), table rate, or zone rate. You set the shipping method you prefer in Administation - Modules - Shipping.

If you opt for table rates, you need to decide whether you will charge shipping per weight, or per value; then you enter the rates, for example:

per weight:

2:1,5:3,10:5, etc

which means: shipping for items weighing 2 kg (or pounds) is $1; for items weighing 5kg is $5, etc.

per value:

100:10,750:5,1000:0

meaning: for items up to $100 of value the shipping is $10, for items up to $750 of value the shipping is $5, etc.

Zone shipping is similar to table rate shipping. You have to enable zone rates in configuration first, and make sure that your zones are available, or create them (in Locations / Taxes, Zones). Then proceed to set the zone rates in admin - modules - shipping - zone rates.

However, I must point out that when I tried to introduce zones for shipping the system refused to work - and gave me shipping total of 0 all the time. Therefore I did away with zones and opted for per-weight table rates.

Do it by weight or price or items, not individual products.
