cannot edit languages/eng/index.php page-help!

Hi! I am trying to get rid of the default language on the index page, and have tried using 2 different text editors (pspad and conTEXT) and even if I just open the file and delete one letter that they have written, when I put the file back into the folder, I get a Forbidden message. I have reset permissions, that doesn't do anything.

 

Does anyone have any suggestions? I am totally new to webdesign and oscommerce, so please don't kill me for being so stupid, I have spent hours on trial and error with this, getting all errors and I am out of ideas.

Try changing the permisssions using the admin area of your ISP.

 

If their admin area uses cpanel you need to use the "File Manager" to change the permissions.

 

Sometimes using an ftp client to change permissions does not work as expected.

 

Make sure directory permissions are set as per the interactive instalation/first page after installation or as per the User Manual, available under solutions above.
