Image Thumbnails Not Resizing Properly on a new Server

Hello,

I am preparing to transfer my website over to a new server and my images are not resizing properly in the browser on the new server.

 

Current live site on the old server:

Preview of the same page on the new server:

Nothing has been modified in the transfer - the OSCommerce files are an exact copy onto the new server.

 

I have also verified with the new host that all of their PHP settings are the same as my old server.

 

Does anyone know what is causing this problem? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

They don't have Image Magic installed on the new server, either that or GD Library. So the new server cannot handle the image sizing if you only specify the Small Image Width or Height and leave the other blank. Check it for yourself and give both a setting e.g. with 100 height 80

Thank you for the advice.

 

I did confirm that setting image height and width worked so I asked my host to install Image Magic and GD Library as you recommended.

 

They say that the server has been recompiled with the correct configuration but the images are still not resizing. And now after their latest changes, setting the height and width no longer has any affect.

 

Do you have any more spefic instructions that I should give them to install the proper applications and configure the server to be compatible?

 

Is there anything else that could cause this problem? Let me know if you have any other ideas.

 

If I can't solve this, then I'm stuck finding another hosting company again.

Here's the latest information on this problem.

 

Images are still not resizing in the browser here:

The exact same OSCommerce installation on the old server works just fine:

On the new server:

Images resize correctly in the admin system when you edit a product and preview the page.

 

A fresh OSC install worked just fine and all sample images resized correctly.

 

This doesn't make any sense. OSC is compatitible and works on my new server. The files I've transferred work just fine on the old server. What am I missing? I don't even know where to start looking.

 

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
