Sure all this can be done.. Be a lot of work.. Pardon me if I am wrong but it sounds as if you want to create some stores based on the osC Template and sell these stores to customers.. <quote> 'Content management system, where we don't have to call the web designer every time we want to make a change.' cworldspin Posted December 14, 2007 Author Posted December 14, 2007 can you explain further? We do not want to sell the ecommerce applications what we want to do is essentially create a mall type site were certain members are able to upload onto our site their own products, we are not looking to resell any aspect, What we want to provide is an eccommerce site were a registered user can upload an item that want to sell directly onto our site so that others can see it buy it. This make sense? Is this possible with osc
photofxplus Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 we are not looking to resell any aspect What we want to provide is an eccommerce site were a registered user can upload an item that want to sell directly onto our site so that others can see it buy it. I am not a lawyer by any way.. Apologies if I came on that way.. But it did sound like you were intending to create stores using the osC template and resell them. There are many such sites that do that - not necessarily using osC's template but offering mega product inventory (theirs) and your own store. Honestly I do not know if the osC fre-share license means you can sell the code or not. I do know that it states you must make the code open source so that anyone that you pass it on to can see and edit as well. I would not think that anyone would create something then give it away allowing others to profit by selling the product. However in your case, the store belongs to you, any customer would be like a registered customer - personaly I see no problem at all with that. As for the changes you wish to implement - sure it could be done and anyone that says it cant - well as I previously stated.. You would need to make some changes and additions - but when I look at coding, php, java, perl, mySQL, - even MS vb - I dont see any limitations. Just persistance.. I would say that what you wish to do would go along with eBay or another such site.. Perhaps a search on the web would produce another program that would better suit your needs - already be pointed in that direction anyway.. Else, there are a lot of programmers on the web that work on osC sites - for hire. Lloyd
