Hi,

I am new to oscommerce, it sounds very promising! I would be very interested of how much time it takes to develop an online store with oscommerce. I am sure the time differs from project to project and the level of how much customization is required. Is one week to less, one month to much? (I have basic php & mySQL knowledge, is in progress).

Thanks to anyone who can give me a tip on project times!

I'd say that I had the store installed in about 15 minutes.

I had all of my products loaded in another day or two.

I was open in about 2 weeks.

I was finished cutomizing it ...... uh .....well... five months and counting.

NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit.

If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help.

Wizardsandwars is correct - installing the default shop is a snap. Customising to your liking is the where the fun begins.

Ian's loaded snapshot (www.phesis.co.uk)has 5 basic themes using thema mod and some other good mods installed if you want to be lazy and have some variety - takes a few minutes extra to install (READ THE DOCS) but worth it on the whole.

15 minutes to install. An hour to set up your categories. Another couple of hours to add in 100 products...Another 30 minutes to set up your postage and payment options...another 30 mins to set up your shop name, email etc...

An hour to spruce up the stylesheet, and you are ready to go.

If you want something a bit more special, bank on at least 2 weeks solid work for a good change...
