LTA Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Hello, I am new to osCommerce and hope somebody can help me with this. I installed to my site www.BooksAndSoftwares.com version 2.2 and when I browse the site, it has a warning below upper bar of browser: Warning: Cannot write to the configuration file: /home/booksand/public_html/includes/configure.php. If you get this error, set the file permissions (CHMOD) on this file to 444 (read only) I set it to 444 but still cannot solve. Then I set it to 777, still the same problem. Please help me out. Thanks.

LTA Posted December 12, 2007 Author Posted December 12, 2007 This is not the normal error message, have you tampered with it? How are you setting the permissions? Initially it work fine, but after I setup a new username for database and change it to 2 configure file in "includes" and "admind/includes", the error happen. I set the permission by FTP in CHMOD.

So you created a new user in phymyadmin and gave full priveleges?

I use file manager to change both configure files and it's folder to 777, then change the folder back to 755 and configure file to 444 and the error disappear. Thanks, please let me know if this configuration is correct. I set up new user with all previleges except "Creat Routine" is that correct? Many thanks for your help, it solved now.

If it is the store using the db, I ould not have it restricted in any way. 444 is correct for some servers. Glad that it is fixed.
