Possible to add a block of text to top of each category?

Hi,

 

I'm building a store that's actually a gallery for an artist. He's calling each of his categories "galleries" and would like to have a text blurb show up at the top of each one, when a viewer clicks. So, for example, when they select the "painting" category, it'll say something about the paintings at the top before the products are listed. Any ideas on how something like this could be done? I've been thinkin but, uh, not going so well. :-P

p.s. He also wants "quantity" removed from the shopping cart, so each quantity would just be "one" and not shown. If anyone knows that, that'd be great too :-)

They are called category descriptions and can be added with either the Header Tags Controller or the Categories Description contributions. The former is the better solution since it also helps in optimizing your site for the search engines.
