payments are coming through but not orders

Hi hope you can help with this annoying situation payments are coming in the email notification from paypal but when I look at the back end of my os store most orders are not listing some are some not the one's that are not then I have to ring the customer to find out what they have ordered' I have enabled extra emails in the admin section thinking this would sort the problem out but still it happens so I have tested an order and it seems to work fine for me. is this a paypal thing or something else please if you can.

I'm guessing your using the stock PayPal payment module, you need to install the PayPal IPN to sort it out.

Hi thanks for your reply I have a feelling I have installed this paypal IPN how would I check this' now I am wondering if I have not installed something right any info on this would realy help me out.

The default Pay Pal module is listed as Pay Pal in the Payment section of Modules in osC Admin. The Pay Pal IPN is listed as "Credit card or Debit Card by Pay Pal"

 

If the Pay Pal IPN is installed you'll also have an extra Order Status called "Preparing [Pay Pal IPN]"

Hi thanks for the reply sorry to leave it so late to reply I only have the paypal module listed in the admin section' the paypal IPN is not listed I have credit card but not "Credit card or Debit Card by Pay Pal" and cannot find the Order Status called "Preparing [Pay Pal IPN]" within admin hope this is clear what do the IPN do
